Women’s Golf Pathway clinic grows golf participation in Fremantle
More than 30 women have already taken up golf through the new Women’s Golf Pathway program here at Fremantle Public Golf Course in partnership with Future Golf, supporting the growing demand for inclusive and beginner-friendly golf opportunities in Western Australia.
According to Golf Australia, participation has increased by 1.3 million players since 2022, with women now representing 42 per cent of all golfers nationally. Women also account for 60 per cent of new golfers who have taken up the sport in the past two years.
Delivered by PGA Professional Charlie Knoll, the eight-week clinic aims to help women build confidence, develop golf skills and create meaningful community connections in a welcoming, supportive and social environment.

“My goal is to make that first step easy. By creating opportunities for women to learn and enjoy golf, regardless of age or experience, we encourage participation and create a welcoming community where lasting friendships and playing partners are formed.”
About the Women’s Golf Pathway
The Women’s Golf Pathway program runs weekly from 14 August, with sessions held on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Participants are provided with one-on-one coaching, a bucket of range balls for practice and a complimentary coffee after each session to connect with other participants.
Participant Cassie, 40, said:
“12 months ago, I’d never picked up a golf club before or knew anyone else that played, so I wanted an environment to learn the game and also meet new people.
“I’ve experienced endless benefits from Charlie’s clinics; I’m currently completing my third clinic with him.
“There’s a reason I keep coming back! I’ve learnt so much, my game has improved drastically and there’s still lots more to pick up on.”
Cassie says she now regularly plays golf with the other ladies she has met and feels confident enough to navigate the course during a round of golf.
Leading the future of women’s golf
Belgravia Leisure’s National Golf Programs Manager Jack McDonald said increasing participation opportunities for women remains a key focus across the organisation’s golf venues.
“Across our nine publicly accessible golf venues nationally, we continue to implement programs and initiatives that help make golf more accessible and inclusive,” said Jack.
“Our ongoing partnership with Future Golf is removing barriers to participation and creating welcoming environments, helping more people discover the physical, social and wellbeing benefits that golf can provide.”
Future Golf is Australia’s largest multi-club membership and golf community for social and beginner golfers, offering flexible membership options, events and pathways into the game.
